William Hay, Chairman of the Board Born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia, Bill attended the University of Kings College in Halifax and Ryerson Polytech Institute in Toronto. Bill started his long career in the fast food industry in 1970 as manager of the family operated drive-in restaurant in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. He has been in the foodservice industry since that date serving many years as President of House of Hay Limited, a company that operated KFC restaurants in New Brunswick and the Truro area. Today, Bill is Chairman of Trucorp Investments Incorporated, the company that owns and operates Bonté Foods Limited, a food manufacturing and retail company in Dieppe, New Brunswick and Grinner's Food Systems Limited (the franchisor of “Greco Pizza” and “Captain Sub” restaurants) as well as the operator of Frank & Gino’s restaurant. Bill is still a franchisee of KFC and is a franchisee of Tim Hortons in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia. Bill was the recipient of the “Pizza Person of the Year Award” at the 1991 pizza expo in New Orleans. Bill is also the owner of Mastodon Ridge Developments Limited in Stewiacke, Nova Scotia and has been very active in the tourism industry. Bill has been active in numerous industry organizations and been involved with many community-based associations including the Truro and District Chamber of Commerce, Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation and the Central Nova Industry Education Council. Bill is currently Chairman of the Colchester Regional Development Agency (CORDA).
Michael Whittaker, President & CEO Trucorp Investments Incorporated, President of Bonté Foods Limited Mike has worked in the retail advertising industry and joined the GFS organization after acting as a Marketing Consultant in 1980. He is a Journalism/Public Relations graduate of Durham College, Oshawa, Ontario. His background includes client services to the foodservice industry. After 13 years as Director of Marketing for GFS, Mike moved into the position of General Manager in 1994 and was appointed President in 1996. Mike has served on the Boards of the Canadian Restaurant Foodservice Association (CRFA) and the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA). He was the recipient of the President’s Award from the CFA in 1999 and was listed as one of the Top 50 CEO’s in Atlantic Canada by Progress Magazine in 2004.
Guy Soucy, Vice President Trucorp Investments Incorporated, President of Grinner's Food Systems Limited Mr. Soucy has over 33 years experience in the industry. Beginning as an employee in a Moncton, New Brunswick KFC restaurant, Guy progressed within a few years to become General Manager of that franchisee's 28 stores in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. When the Canadian KFC franchise systems was acquired by Pepsico and the local franchisee was also acquired by the national company, Guy moved on to play key managerial roles in that rapidly growing business. With Pepsico and its successor company YUM Canada Inc., Guy's responsibilities included leadership roles in product development in Canada and the United States, national purchasing for YUM and its brands KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, as well as direct managerial positions including responsibility for the systems 99 operating restaurants in Eastern Canada. Recently, Guy has taken what started as a small internal service to provide point of purchase materials and direct mail guidance to the regional operators and developed it into a major business that provides point of purchase requirements and direct mail requirements nationally for KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut as well as Xem Satellite Radio and other businesses. Guy understands operating and growing successful restaurant businesses and understands and is committed to building successful franchisor/franchisee relations.
Claude Pothier, Vice President Finance Trucorp Investments Incorporated Claude is a Chartered Accountant as well as a Certified Management Accountant, and has experience in transportation, manufacturing and foodservice industries. He joined the GFS organization in 1985. Claude was a finalist for the E&Y's Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Atlantic Canada in 2006. |
